If you're a Medicare beneficiary and we believe Medicare may not cover a particular item or service, we are required to give you a written Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) before providing the item. The ABN explains why Medicare may not pay, and gives you the choice to receive the item and pay out-of-pocket, or to decline it.
